Personal Training, Movement Safety, Inclusivity, and More

Hi, I'm Kim and I'm really glad you're here...and my guess is there's likely a very specific reason or two you found this site.

Do you have injuries you're trying to heal?

In need of a virtual or in-person movement coach to help with returning to exercise

or to approach it from a different view?

Or maybe you've been searching for a trauma informed practitioner to help you navigate challenging physical experiences, feelings of body shame, diet culture, and are ready to say

"F**K YOU!" to societal expectations around YOUR body?

Are you ready to ditch the 'no pain no gain' mentality and find ways to

FEEL GOOD in your skin again?

Together, we look at your body and mind as a WHOLE unit - more than parts or pieces - all of you is important.  And all of you is welcome.

If you're looking to heal from some emotional pain & are feeling grief, loss, anger, or sadness - we can work with helping those feelings arise and move through your body, too.

I'm thrilled you’ve decided to visit ~ please contact me

with any questions and I'll get back to you as soon as possible...

ABOUT COACH KIMMIE

Kim “Coach Kimmie” Smith has 26 years of personal training, Pilates, massage therapy, and injury + rehab experience working in various fitness and medical settings in Kentucky, Tennessee, & California since 1995. She was the fitness director for two busy movement studios in the Los Angeles area from 2006 til January 2020. At the beginning of February 2020, she struck out on her own and relocated to the Santa Barbara county area of California and then due to the pandemic,100% of her business shifted to online platforms such as Zoom, FaceTime, and Skype. While the transition from in-person sessions was challenging emotionally, Kim had previous history of working with clients this way since 2010 so thankfully it was a fairly seamless transition.

She specializes in bodyweight and resistance-based strength training for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and safety. In addition to feeling strong, confident, and capable, Kim feels clients should have fun and experience the most possible freedom in movement every day. Supplementing sessions with humor, candor, (and the occasional curse word!), she believes movement is a human right and should be accessible to everyone regardless of size, race, gender expression, or financial status.

As a person recovering from an eating disorder and living with depression, Kim also understands the struggles that come along with these conditions. She deeply enjoys working with all clients but has a very special place in her heart for the specific populations of LGBTQIA+, veteran, trauma survivors, and larger-bodied persons.

In October 2020, the opportunity to make a huge life change showed up. Kim and her partner Heather moved to the Big Island of Hawaii to be close to their mentors and complete the Relational Somatic practice training they'd begun a few years prior. This is where they reside with their dog Ghost and kitten Jane.
